About me

For several years I was a national newspaper film journalist, reviewing all the major releases and interviewing actors, writers, directors and anyone else who could teach me about the business.

Now I’m a screenwriter for film and television, with a particular interest in true stories and historical drama, with a side order of comedy.

My latest project is WYATT EARP & THE COWBOY WAR (2024) for Stephen David Entertainment & Netflix, a six-episode limited series narrated by Ed Harris exploring the legend of Wild West lawman Wyatt Earp and the untold true story behind the most famous shoot-out in American history, The Gunfight At The O.K. Corral. I co-wrote and researched all six episodes, working with BAFTA-winning director and showrunner Patrick Reams.

It was the Number 3 show globally on Netflix in the opening week, and a Top Ten hit in 47 countries, receiving widespread acclaim. The Wall Street Journal wrote: “Wyatt Earp and the Cowboy War” (is) much less like a Discovery-style history special than an ambitious feature film.”  The Spectator described it as “a cracking good yarn.”

The show has one of the highest ‘completion rates’ in Netflix history. Please watch the trailer here

I also worked on the writing team of LIBERTY OR DEATH: BOSTON TEA PARTY (2023), a four-episode limited series for Stephen David Entertainment now streaming on FOX NATION. Hosted by Rob Lowe, the series examines the iconic act of defiance which the lit the fuse of the American revolution. Please watch the trailer here.

Previously, I wrote BORN A KING (2019), a $21 million historical drama and coming-of-age story which broke box office records across the Gulf and Middle East, opening at Number 1 and earning rave reviews. Set in Arabia and the UK in 1919, and based on true events, it’s directed by Goya winner Agustí Villaronga and stars Ed Skrein, Hermione Corfield, Kenneth Cranham, Sam Adewunmi and Abdullah Ali.

Produced by the Oscar-winning Andres Vicente Gomez, BORN A KING premiered at the Barcelona-Sant Jordi International Film Festival and won Best Film at the Inward Eye Film Festival, Lake District (patron Brian Cox). Please watch the trailer here.

With Crispian Mills, I co-wrote SLAUGHTERHOUSE RULEZ (2018), a comedy-horror set in a British boarding school starring Asa Butterfield, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Michael Sheen, Margot Robbie, Finn Cole & Kit Connor. It was released nationwide by Sony in 2018.

During my journalism years I sold a number of screenplays, including the romantic comedy SECRET MUM to Rocket Pictures/ Lionsgate UK, and I was privileged to work with the legendary Sir David Frost on a film about the remarkable Kenyan Sammy Gitau.

I’ve taught at numerous film schools, including the LONDON FILM SCHOOL where I’m a Visiting Lecturer, and I run screenwriting workshops at the RIVERSIDE STUDIOS in West London. I’m also a script consultant available for private mentoring work. Please contact me here. I’d love to help you develop your screenplay.

I have a BA (Hons) in Modern History from Oxford University and am represented by Cynthia Okoye at Curtis Brown.
